I had this years ago when we signed Stephen Hughes from Arsenal. He was the heartbeat of our club on Championship Manager (football manager to the younger generation). He was awesome on the game, the reality was somewhat different.

Kevin: so what we do here is, give the ball to Pickford so he can boot it over your head to the centre forward to nod down to no one or into touch, they will then come at us. You can then either try and get the ball off them or just stand around and watch like your teammates will do. If you win the ball, pass it back to Pickford so we can repeat the above.

He's saying all the right things, but you can hear the disappoint in his voice. He's left Villa because he's not considered good enough to have a future here, and it's Villa's policy to sell on this calibre of youth player to help stay within PSR rules. However, he performed well for QPR in the Championship, so he's got some skills and might turn out to be an useful asset for Everton. I wish him well.

@@dodibenabba525 You certainly will, but he'll have to be able to step up a rung or two if he's going to be useful to Everton in the Prem. That'll probably take time, if it happens, which he wouldn't get at Villa. He's a good kid, but at Villa he wasn't considered a good enough prospect to keep. There's nothing new here by the way; Villa have being raising funds this way for a few years now: Archer to Sheffield Utd; Philogene-Bidace to Hull; A Ramsey to Burnley; Chukwuemeka to Chelsea; and so on. Add all that income up, and you get a senior player like Moussa Diaby or Leon Bailey for free. It's a business model that has helped get us into the Champions League.

a little patronising. I get you’ve had a fantastic season and we’re in the shit currently - but reading this you’d think the gulf between us is like that between Real Madrid and Barnsley. I think it’s clear, with Dobbin looking like going the other way, this is a way of both clubs easing their PSR issues. I hope both players and clubs get something out of it.

Villan here- Tim is solid but unspectacular. Good fundamentals, but he can seem anonymous. Occasional flash of top tier skill that makes you regret not seeing more of it. He's a bit passive. He'll be a decent squad option for you, but I wouldn't get too excited about him.
